Our website and blog are built upon the values of social capital, drawing on community development methods that encourage collective ownership, inclusive decision-making, and the embracing of diversity. As an online community resource, we apply social accounting to assess how effective our community initiatives are. This technique allows us to collect meaningful feedback on the positive changes experienced by participants, examine the varied ways in which the internet can be utilised, and importantly, track individuals' engagement within the community and their progress in digital skills. Among those we support are volunteer digital mentors (Online Chums), some of whom later transition into paid employment.
